C4 Kits

C4 Kits and Collectibles is a new specialty resin figure company founded by Christian Eckert, born from a longtime appreciation for the work of renowned figure sculptor Roberto Von Behr and a desire to preserve and reintroduce some of Roberto’s classic sculptures to the garage-kit community.

A collector and admirer of Von Behr’s work for years, Christian eventually had the opportunity to take that passion a step further by acquiring the original sculpture and production rights to Randy Van Dyke’s Morale Support, a classic Roberto Von Behr sculpt. Bringing the piece back into production became the first release from C4 Kits—and the beginning of something much larger.

 

Since then, Christian has continued seeking out original Von Behr sculptures and acquiring the rights to reproduce select pieces. C4 Kits is being built around a simple idea: give longtime collectors another opportunity to own and build these increasingly difficult-to-find figures while introducing Roberto’s distinctive work to a new generation of figure painters and garage-kit enthusiasts.

 

At the C4 Kits booth, attendees will find primarily 1/6-scale resin figure kits, along with select 1/4-scale pieces, showcasing Von Behr’s unmistakable approach to the classic pinup figure—beautiful character design, elegant sculpting, and subjects that are as enjoyable to paint as they are to display.

Beyond producing resin kits, C4 Kits is working to preserve a small piece of garage-kit history—not only by bringing original sculptures out of private collections and back onto hobby workbenches, but also by documenting the stories behind them. Whenever possible, C4 Kits is researching and preserving the history of each piece, including its origins, original production, artists, and the people and ideas that helped bring it to life.

 

The goal is to ensure that these sculptures and their stories are not lost to time, while giving collectors and painters the opportunity to build, paint, display, and enjoy them once again.

Chattanooga Scale Modelers

Chattanooga Scale Modelers is a longtime Tennessee modeling club that has grown from its Chattanooga roots into something much larger—a truly national community of scale modelers connected by the hobby, friendship, and a shared desire to build together regardless of where they live. The club welcomes builders across the entire spectrum of scale modeling, including aircraft, armor, automobiles, ships, figures, science fiction, fantasy, Gundam and mecha, dioramas, and other miniature subjects, with members ranging from casual hobbyists and newcomers to experienced builders and competitors. Chattanooga Scale Modelers has a proud history of supporting the hobby through club activities, educational demonstrations, participation in regional and national events, fellowship with other modeling organizations, and major events held in Chattanooga—including serving as the local host club for the 2019 IPMS/USA National Convention. 2027 IPMS National Convention

Huntsville Plastic Modelers Society (HPMS) is one of the Southeast’s longstanding scale-modeling clubs and the IPMS/USA chapter representing Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding Rocket City region. For nearly five decades, the club has brought modelers together to share their work, exchange techniques and ideas, encourage builders of all experience levels, and celebrate virtually every corner of the hobby, from aircraft, armor, automobiles, ships, figures, dioramas, and military subjects to science fiction, fantasy, spacecraft, and everything in between. In 2025, HPMS reached an exciting new milestone when its proposal was unanimously approved to host the 2027 IPMS/USA National Convention, bringing the biggest annual gathering in American IPMS scale modeling to Huntsville. The 2027 IPMS/USA National Convention will take place July 14–17, 2027 at Huntsville’s Von Braun Center, welcoming modelers from across the United States and around the world for four days of incredible models, competition, vendors, seminars, workshops, tours, fellowship, and everything that makes the IPMS Nationals one of the hobby’s must-attend events. Before the modeling world heads to the Rocket City in July, however, IPMS Huntsville is making a special stop at ModelCon EagleQuest! Members of the Huntsville club will be at the show specifically to promote the upcoming 2027 IPMS/USA National Convention, answer questions, share information about their plans, and help EagleQuest attendees start making their own plans for Huntsville. HPMS has already begun its countdown to the Nationals and has been offering modelers previews of what they have planned for 2027. Jay later became part of the Free Time Hobbies team after walking into the company’s hobby shop in 2013 looking for paint to finish one of those Revell projects. Kit Con

​​Kit Con is a growing scale-model show and convention held in Raleigh, North Carolina, created to bring together builders, artists, manufacturers, vendors, and hobby enthusiasts from across the modeling community under the welcoming theme “What Do You Build?” Launched in 2025, the inaugural event attracted modelers from around the country and featured more than 340 contest entries, establishing Kit Con as an exciting new addition to the East Coast modeling calendar. Unlike shows centered primarily on one modeling genre, Kit Con embraces virtually every corner of the hobby, with competition categories covering aircraft, armor, automobiles, ships, spacecraft, science fiction, horror, fantasy and superhero figures, historical figures, Gundam and mecha, anime, dinosaurs and kaiju, dioramas, miniatures, humor, and more. The event combines its large model contest with professional demonstrations, educational presentations, raffles, specialty awards, and a vendor area featuring hobby retailers, model manufacturers, figure and garage-kit producers, artists, and specialty modeling companies. Kit Con uses a point-based open judging system, allowing multiple builders within a category to be recognized according to the quality of their work rather than limiting recognition to a traditional first-, second-, and third-place structure. Following the success of its first year, Kit Con 2026 will be held November 21 at the Hilton Raleigh North Hills, moving into a ballroom approximately three times larger than the previous space as the event continues to grow. With its emphasis on inclusivity, craftsmanship, education, vendors, and community, Kit Con is developing into a destination where modelers from traditional scale modeling, figure and garage-kit building, Gundam, science fiction, fantasy, and other branches of the hobby can come together for one shared celebration of model building.

​For anyone familiar with the history of scale modeling in Chattanooga, Lynn Petty is a name that holds a special place in the local hobby community. Lynn was the driving force behind the creation of Chattanooga Scale Modelers, helping establish the club, the model show that became ModelCon, and serving as  Chairman for many years as it grew into the active and respected modeling organization it is today. Throughout those years, Lynn devoted countless hours to organizing meetings, supporting fellow modelers, promoting the hobby, building relationships with other clubs, and helping create a strong scale-modeling community in Chattanooga. That leadership culminated in one of the club’s proudest accomplishments when Lynn along with Mike Moore hosted the 2019 IPMS/USA National Convention in Chattanooga, helping lead the enormous effort required to welcome modelers, vendors, manufacturers, clubs, and hobby organizations from across the country to the Scenic City. After successfully seeing the club through the National Convention, Lynn decided the time had finally come to step away from the responsibilities of leadership and hand the reins to the next generation. Today, he gets to enjoy something he spent years making possible: simply being a member of Chattanooga Scale Modelers, building models, spending time with longtime friends, welcoming new ones, and enjoying the hobby without having to be the person responsible for everything happening behind the scenes. At ModelCon EagleQuest, Lynn will be joined by fellow modeler and long time friend Mike Bradley, with the two opening up selections from their personal collections for attendees to browse and purchase.
