Rising Sun Hobby
Rising Sun Hobby & Games is an Atlanta, Georgia-based, family-owned hobby retailer created by modelers for modelers, with a passion for helping builders discover their next great project and keeping the scale-modeling community growing. The company traces its inspiration to its founder’s childhood experience building a Monogram Snap-Tite F-14 Tomcat at six years old, beginning a lifelong interest that eventually expanded from aircraft and armor into Gundam, anime kits, and building models together as a family. Today, Rising Sun Hobby offers a growing selection of plastic model kits, Gundam and mecha kits, aftermarket accessories, detail sets, and other hobby products, carrying well-known manufacturers such as Tamiya, Airfix, ICM, Trumpeter, MENG, Takom, Ryefield Model, Eduard, Border Model, Gecko Models, and many others. While Rising Sun Hobby operates primarily as an online retailer without a traditional storefront, the company is very much an in-person part of the hobby community, traveling to IPMS shows and modeling events throughout the Southeast where builders can meet the people behind the business and shop their selection firsthand. That connection to fellow builders is central to the company’s philosophy: Rising Sun Hobby describes itself as “builders first and a business second,” with products selected by people who actually build, paint, and understand the hobby. With its combination of great model kits, knowledgeable personal service, family involvement, and genuine enthusiasm for scale modeling, Rising Sun Hobby & Games represents exactly what an independent hobby business can bring to a model show—a chance to discover something new, talk models with people who share the passion, and hopefully head home with another box for the stash.
