Modellers Without Borders (MWB) is an international scale-modeling organization created around a simple idea: the modeling hobby has changed, and everyone who enjoys creating small versions of bigger things should have a place in the community. Founded through a shared vision among modelers from the United States, Canada, and Australia, MWB brings together builders across geographic boundaries as well as the traditional boundaries between modeling genres. Its community embraces not only aircraft, armor, automobiles, ships, figures, trains, and science fiction, but also Gunpla, 3D printing, miniature wargaming, fantasy subjects, and other forms of miniature modeling. The organization is focused on inclusion, respect, education, collaboration, skill development, and building stronger connections among individual modelers, clubs, manufacturers, retailers, and the hobby industry. MWB encourages modelers of all interests and skill levels to share their work, learn from one another, and seek constructive feedback without the hobby becoming defined solely by competition. The organization supports both online and in-person communities, local clubs, modeling events, exhibitions, and national-level gatherings, while promoting approaches such as open-system judging and exhibition-style events that recognize craftsmanship and encourage builders to continue developing their skills. Beyond modeling itself, Modellers Without Borders believes the hobby can be a genuine force for social good, emphasizing the friendship, creativity, sense of accomplishment, and mental-health benefits that can come from building models and belonging to a supportive community. That mission also extends into charitable outreach through its support of Help Heal Veterans, an organization using therapeutic arts and crafts to assist America’s veterans. With its philosophy that “without borders” means more than geography—it also means without boundaries between genres, media, experience levels, or different corners of the hobby, Modellers Without Borders is working to build a modern, welcoming, and truly global modeling community centered on one thing its members all share: the joy of building.
