Mike Matheiss Art represents the creative work of Mike Matheiss, a Chattanooga, Tennessee artist and longtime member of the local scale-modeling community whose artwork has helped give Chattanooga modeling its own distinctive visual identity. Mike created the artwork for the 2019 IPMS/USA National Convention in Chattanooga, developing imagery that helped represent both the host city and one of the largest gatherings of scale modelers in the country. His talents can also be seen in the Chattanooga Scale Modelers club logo, as well as in the creation of the club’s memorable mascot, “Mikey,” a character that has become a fun and recognizable part of the club’s personality. Combining his interests in art, illustration, history, and scale modeling, Mike brings the same creativity and attention to detail found on a modeler’s workbench to his original artwork and designs. His contributions have helped create a visual connection between the Chattanooga modeling community, its events, and the hobby itself, making his work familiar to many modelers who may have seen it on convention materials, club graphics, and other hobby-related projects. At this show, attendees will have an opportunity to meet Mike, see his artwork firsthand, and discover the work of the artist behind some of the imagery and characters that have become part of Chattanooga’s scale-modeling history.
