Chattanooga Scale Modelers is a longtime Tennessee modeling club that has grown from its Chattanooga roots into something much larger—a truly national community of scale modelers connected by the hobby, friendship, and a shared desire to build together regardless of where they live. The club welcomes builders across the entire spectrum of scale modeling, including aircraft, armor, automobiles, ships, figures, science fiction, fantasy, Gundam and mecha, dioramas, and other miniature subjects, with members ranging from casual hobbyists and newcomers to experienced builders and competitors. Chattanooga Scale Modelers has a proud history of supporting the hobby through club activities, educational demonstrations, participation in regional and national events, fellowship with other modeling organizations, and major events held in Chattanooga—including serving as the local host club for the 2019 IPMS/USA National Convention. More recently, however, the club has evolved beyond the traditional idea that a model club must be defined by geography. Through its growing remote membership, modelers from across the country—including builders who may not have an active local club of their own—can become part of the Chattanooga Scale Modelers family, participate in the community, share their work, develop friendships, and enjoy the camaraderie of belonging to a club even when Chattanooga is hundreds of miles away. That national community comes together in person once each year at ModelCon EagleQuest, proudly hosted by Chattanooga Scale Modelers and serving as the club’s annual national meetup—a place where friends and fellow modelers who spend the rest of the year connecting from across the country can finally gather together, build new friendships, reconnect with old ones, and celebrate the hobby face-to-face. Club members work throughout the year to make ModelCon EagleQuest possible, welcoming modelers, manufacturers, retailers, artists, podcasters, clubs, organizations, collectors, and hobby enthusiasts from throughout the modeling world. For Chattanooga Scale Modelers, ModelCon EagleQuest is more than a model show—it is our family reunion, a once-a-year gathering where a national community comes home to Chattanooga to share models, stories, laughter, inspiration, and the friendships that remind us why this hobby has always been about much more than what we build on the workbench.
